Google Meet on mobile

How to record a Google Meet on iPhone

Three reliable ways to record a Google Meet from an iPhone, including the option that doesn't require the iOS Meet app at all.

If you're trying to record a Google Meet from your iPhone, you have a few options. The iOS screen recorder works in a pinch but it captures everything on screen, including notifications. RecordMeeting's webapp lets you join and record the call from mobile Safari without an extra screen recorder, and uploads the result to your workspace automatically.

Steps

  1. 1

Option 1: Use the RecordMeeting webapp on mobile

Open recordmeeting.com on your iPhone, sign in, and join your Google Meet from there. The call is recorded directly to your workspace. No screen recorder needed, no extra cleanup of notifications or other apps.

  2. 2

Option 2: Use the built-in iOS screen recorder

Open Settings → Control Center → add Screen Recording. Open the Google Meet app and join the call. Swipe down from the top-right to open Control Center and tap the record button. To capture audio, long-press the record button and turn on Microphone. Stop recording from the same Control Center button when done. The video saves to Photos.

  3. 3

Option 3: Record on desktop, watch on mobile

If you also have a Mac or PC, the most reliable option is to record from desktop with the RecordMeeting Chrome extension. Recordings are stored in your workspace and you can watch, share or download them from your iPhone afterwards.

Good to know

Why the iOS screen recorder isn't ideal for meetings

iOS screen recording captures everything on your screen, including pop-up notifications, your battery indicator, and any app you accidentally swipe to. It also records only what's currently on screen, so if you switch apps mid-call, you lose the meeting view. RecordMeeting on mobile or desktop avoids all of that by capturing the meeting itself, not your screen.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a RecordMeeting iOS app?

RecordMeeting is delivered as a webapp that runs in mobile Safari. There's no separate iOS app to install. Just open recordmeeting.com on your iPhone.

Will the iOS screen recorder capture the other participants' audio?

Yes. Long-press the screen-recording button in Control Center and enable Microphone. This captures audio from the system, including the meeting audio and your own mic.

Can I record a Google Meet on iPhone without anyone knowing?

Google Meet shows its standard recording indicator to all participants when any recording is active. iOS screen recording itself does not announce to remote participants that you're recording, but laws in many regions still require all parties to consent. Always tell the call you're recording.

Can I record on iPhone and iPad?

Yes. The mobile webapp works on both iPhone and iPad, in Safari and other browsers.
